Former federal prosecutor: If Trump isn’t already the subject of a criminal investigation, he ‘imminently will be’

It’s only a matter of time before Donald Trump becomes a target of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, according to New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza.

Lizza spoke with Julie O’Sullivan—who served as a prosecutor on the team that investigated Bill and Hillary Clinton in the Whitewater scandal—said fired FBI Directory James Comeys’ testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee last week “would be enough to get an indictment” by a grand jury.

According to Sullivan, Trump’s attempt to quash the FBI investigation into former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn shows the president is orchestrating a cover-up.

Pelosi Predicts Trump will 'Self-Impeach'

Maybe so. But that shouldn’t keep you from doing your job, Nancy. We shouldn’t wait on the Republicans to turn on Trump. It’s obvious that the Democratic leadership wants to play politics with an eye towards regaining control of Congress:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi believes President Donald Trump will “self-impeach” and that Democrats should wait for the Russia investigations — especially special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe — to play out before pushing to remove him from the Oval Office.

Pelosi also believes that if Trump fired Mueller — which some Trump allies are encouraging the president to do — it would be enough to push Republicans to begin seriously considering acting against the president on their own.

New NBA Champions Golden State Warriors won't visit Trump at the White House

This is the right thing to do:

The Golden State Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavilers in just five games, and the entire team is the real MVP as reports have surfaced that the 2017 NBA champs won’t be making the customary trip to the White House because the president is a xenophobic, racist dirtbag.

Josh Brown of CNBC’s The Halftime Report, tweeted shortly after the Warriors won their second title in three years that the team decided unanimously to skip the traditional championship visit to Washington due to the president’s hatred of all things basketball represents, like teamwork and black men and smiling.

Democratic Congressman Drafts Article of Impeachment Against Trump for ‘Obstruction of Justice’

At least one person in Washington is doing their job:

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) released a draft Monday for an article of impeachment against President Trump that argues the president is guilty of obstruction of justice, claiming that he “sought to use his authority to hinder and cause the termination of” investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Sherman cited in particular the investigation into former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn and claims the president threatened and then terminated former FBI Director James Comey over the investigation.

“As the investigations move forward, additional evidence supporting additional Articles of Impeachment may emerge,” Sherman wrote in a letter to his colleagues. “However, as to Obstruction of Justice and 18 U.S.C. § 1512 (b)(3), the evidence we have is sufficient to move forward now. And the national interest requires that we do so.”

Seth Meyers: Is There 'Anything Creepier' Than Donald Trump's First Cabinet Meeting?

Un would be jealous:

Seth Meyers thinks even North Korea’s dictator would be embarrassed by the ego-stroking that went on during Donald Trump’s first full cabinet meeting.

After the president’s team heaped compliments on him during their inaugural gathering Monday, the “Late Night” host asked if there was “anything creepier than watching Trump make his staff go around the room and praise him?”

“Even Kim Jong Un is like, dude, have some self-respect,” Meyers said.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, he noted that Trump had “touched more glowing orbs” during his time in office than signed major legislation.

“Even Kim Jong Un is like, dude, have some self-respect.”

Trump’s Personal Lawyer Boasted That He Got Federal Prosecutor Fired

Marc

Don’t worry. What comes around goes around.

Marc Kasowitz, President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer in the Russia investigation, has boasted to friends and colleagues that he played a central role in the firing of Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, according to four people familiar with the conversations.

Kasowitz told Trump, “This guy is going to get you,” according to a person familiar with Kasowitz’s account.
